One of the most recognizable sites along the Lincoln Highway just west of Gettysburg is McPherson’s Barn.  The barn is the last survivor of the once productive farm owned by Edward McPherson.  During the Battle of Gettysburg, the area was the scene of intense fighting on July 1, 1863.  The barn become “A Place of Refuge” for the wounded; and almost 154 years later has become a different type of refuge.  P. Buckley Moss has captured the beauty that is now McPherson’s Barn, in her latest painting of the Gettysburg area, A Place of Refuge
